Congratulations St George Marathon Finishers!

Steven Morgan, approaching the finish
Official time 2:47:36

October 3, 2009 marked the 33rd year of the St George, Utah marathon. Bonfires blazed at the start area keeping the 8,000 or so participants some what warm in the chilly mountains before the 6:45 am start. When the time came and the race started, runners of various age, athletic ability, gender, and hometown came together to attempt to achieve the same goal: get across the finish line 26.2 miles away. The course wound down along the SR-18 taking a scenic tour of the Diamond Valley, Snow Canyon, and finally ending with a short partial tour of St George itself. Two RRRC staff, Jessica Destito and Bethaney McLaughlin, Steven Morgan from the RRRC race team, and his father, Gerry Morgan all took on the challenge to complete the 2009 St george marathon. Jessica set her PR and qualified for Boston again with a time of 3:22:30. Bethaney also set her PR of 4:38:28. Gerry Morgan set his PR of 3:40:28. And Steven Morgan completed the race in 2:47:36. Congratulations to all those who finished the marathon. Thanks to the City of St George for putting on such a wonderful and pretty well organized event. This is definitely one marathon worth running.

Jessica finishing the last 200 meters strong
